Let's take a look at the traditional titles Mr. Mrs. and Miss. Here's the word for "Mr.".

In this example, the title follows the surname alone. It can also follow the full name. Listen.

When you address someone in Chinese you usually use the surname and title. Listen to Miss hu address Mr. King as she asks her question.

The title "Xian1sheng" is also used by itself to mean "sir". Listen.
